About Real Acne
Acne is a very common problem affecting many adolescents. It is a general term used for things such as clogged up pores which cause blackheads and whiteheads, pimples and other sorts of lumps on the skin. They are usually more often found on the face and neck but can be on the chest and back. Nearly all teenagers get acne to some extent but you can get it during any point in your life.
But what actually causes acne? It is when something goes wrong in the gland called the pilosebaceous unit which is actually a combination of the sebaceous gland, hair follicles and the hair itself. When someone is going through adolescence they produce More of a hormone called sebum which causes acne. This usually declines in production after the age of 20 but not always, as some people can get acne much later in their life. The pilosebaceousunit is more densely found on the skin of the face and neck, as well as the back, which is why this is the regions where acne is most commonly found.
The problems in the piosebaceous unit occurs when sebum becomes trapped in the hair follicle which clogs up the system, which then in turns causes both black and whiteheads.A type of bacteria that usually lives on the skin becomes much more common on those who have acne as they use sebum to grow and are hence attracted to it. This causes swelling on the skin which is another reason for acne.
